The One YouTuber Your Daughter (Or Mother) Must Watch In 2018

Featured, How Dare She, Redefining Success, The Power Of Women, YouTube

You know those people who straight up make you love being a part of the human race?

The people that no matter what kind of crappy and stab-myself-in-the-eye-with-a-fork day you have had, they somehow make you laugh?

Lilly Singh is one of those people. She is by far the real-life Superwoman.

Just by turning on your phone and watching one video you get these kick-ass ideas about how today your gonna slay, and nothing – not even one of those people who you can’t stand being around because every time you see them Mufasa’s scene from the Lion King plays over and over in your head – can stop you.

Lilly Singh not only encourages fabulous beings from ‘Unicorn Island’ to stand up and be themselves, she is also a fantastic role model for girls of all ages. (Yes, I’m talking to all the ‘older women’ who still think sending an eggplant emoji to their teen children is a way of showing what you need from the grocery store.)

She is a person who gives amazing life and business advice to people through her YouTube channel and her book – How To Be A Bawse, and her live-shows (thank you for coming to Perth, Lilly, you rocked our world).

And just because she’s on YouTube doesn’t make her like a lot of the rest of them – Lilly isn’t one of those people who does horrendous things to others for views.

She doesn’t need to because #puretalent

So, stop what you’re doing and search Lilly Singh and give yourself free life lessons and therapy session that only go for six minutes and are guess what? ching ching! FREE! Then, share that goodness around to your sisters, your friends, your Mum and your daughters.

Don’t know where to start?

Here’s my favourite Lilly Singh life lesson/ therapy session/ religion/culture teaching video:

A Geography Class for Racist People

Watch it. Change your life for the better. She makes fighting racism and the mundane absolutely and utterly fabulous.

Make sure you tell her Ella from Perth sent you. She doesn’t know me yet, but I took her up on her dare back in May of 2017 and I’ve been working at it ever since.

Ella

Ella writes stuff. Lots of stuff. Some of it makes it to How Dare She? much is hidden away. She is a beast on the netball court, the vintage typewriter, head in a book, and when anyone is in trouble. She has a heart of gold and a core of steel and very good taste in friends. She is co-owner and founder of How Dare She? and you’d better not tell her what she can’t do.

Why are we doing this thing? Because there’s enough noise in the world telling women what we ‘should’ be doing.

We should parent more consciously, but not be helicopter parents. We should take care of our bodies, but not be vain. We should make boys pay, but demand equal rights. We should dress appropriately, but also be confident in our skin, wear what we want, but not be provocative, oh and please feel comfortable in the world’s skimpiest school bathers but then wear your jeans to the formal because last year the boys looked up the girls’ skirts and so you’ll have to be the ones to modify your behaviour. Yeah. No.

We are a mother and daughter writing team who launched a platform for women 14 –  104. Women who need to read stories of daring. Women who need to write them.

How Dare She relies on donations to keep us ticking along. Help us pay for all those little things that keep a website running, and you’ll be rewarded with inspiring stories, a kickass community, and warm fuzzies. ♥
